Saw X” stamps its success at the box office by surpassing its 13 million-dollar budget. It secured a massive business of $53 million in North America and $107 million worldwide.
It is an incredible achievement for the franchise to have an advancing project, i.e., “Saw XI,” considering that “Saw X” hit theaters on September 29, 2023. However, this quick turnaround in less than a year is familiar to the franchise. After the success of the first “Saw,” the creators swiftly approved “Saw II,” and it hit theaters in just 364 days. Subsequent films followed suit, with different chapters released less than a year after their predecessors, until the seventh installment, “Saw 3D,” which took 371 days after “Saw VI.” Following a seven-year break, the franchise returned with the 2017 revival, “Jigsaw.”
In addition, the 81-year-old Tobin Bell played a central role in “Saw X.” He reprised his role as John Kramer, the creator of elaborate torture devices and a debatable self-help figure known as Jigsaw. Notably, he debuted in the original “Saw” in 2004.
Saw X was a prequel story set between the first Saw and Saw II events. It depicted Kramer’s journey to seek treatment for a brain tumor and to confront a group of fraudulent medical practitioners. Shawnee Smith also returned as Jigsaw’s apprentice, Amanda Young.
Whether Saw 11 will continue reintroducing Tobin Bell as the serial killer Jigsaw or take an entirely different direction remains uncertain. The only thing that horror sequel lovers can do now is wait until “Saw XI” graces theaters to find out what unfolds in front of them.
