The fate of Ragnarok Season 3 will be infront of the audience soon. In 2020, Netflix gave the Norse Mythology a great plot twist in their original series “Ragnarok.” With two seasons under its belt, the franchise has amassed a great fan following, and considering the hype of the show, it won’t be surprising if the showrunners decided to release Ragnarok Season 3! And if so, then when will the third season release?
Netflix has not announced the release date for the upcoming third season yet. But the 2nd season ended on a major cliffhanger so we are confident that the showrunners will convince Netflix to release the 3rd installment of Ragnarok. What are the chances of Ragnarok Season 3 happening? We have analyzed all of them below! So let’s take a look at them.
Many viewers at first confused the show with the MCU Thor film, but the Ragnarok series is a Norwegian fantasy drama! The series is a blend of modern teenage drama, Norse mythology, and environmental conditions. The show is set in the fictional town of Edda (in Norway), and it focuses on the character of Magne Seier. Magne one day discovers that he is the reincarnation of Thor!
The teenage boy takes advantage of his supreme position to fix the environmental changes in his hometown. He fights against a very influential family of Jutul. Because they are the sole reason behind the emission of dangerous gases in the town which in turn adds to the hazardous climate changes. Later on, he is joined by other embodiments of God too!
The 2 seasons have uniquely covered the story, and the series can go forward with more seasons! So, yes, Ragnarok Season 3 is possible! Below you’ll find more details about it. So, let’s begin!
Ragnarok Season 3 Release Date
As mentioned earlier, Ragnarok has not been greenlit for a third season yet. So there is no release date for Ragnarok Season 3 either. But after observing the past production pattern of the preceding seasons, we have concluded that if the third season is to come, it will most likely premiere in 2022!
The first two seasons each had six episodes, and the story has many new important characters that need to be explored. This implies that Netflix will go on with the franchise. The second season was added to Netflix’s library in May, so it is still too early to announce the renewal news. If Netflix does not announce Ragnarok Season 3 by September, then we’ll take the hint that the show has been canceled!
Cast
The Ragnarok series has introduced many important Gods and human characters who are bound to come back for the third season. So, expect to see David Stakston as Magne Seier in the lead yet again!. He plays the modern life Thor. Jonas Strand Gravli will join David as Laurits Seier who happens to be Magne’s half brother and the god-of-mischief Loki.
Other than these two Gods, Danu Sunth might also return as Iman Reza in the upcoming third installment. The Jutul family will also star in Ragnarok Season 3. So, it will be safe to assume that the following characters will return in the third season;
- Vidar (Gísli Örn Garðarsson)
- Saxa (Theresa Frostad Eggesbø)
- Fjor (Herman Tømmeraas)
- Ran (Synnøve Macody Lund)
- Gry (Emma Bones)
- Turid Seier (Henriette Steenstrup)
However, the cast mentioned above is not confirmed by the showrunners yet. Therefore, it will be better not to keep any expectations for now and let Netflix do its work!
Ragnarok Season 3 Plot
If Ragnarok Season 3 is to come, then the same Norse mythology will be kept up with. The second season was not kind to our favorite God Magne as he lost his powers. But in some time, he managed to get hold of the situation by finding the legendary Thor’s hammer!
In the third season, he’ll fight with the Jutul Industrial Company and the evil entities that run it. Laurits will play a significant role in the upcoming season. Why? Because he kissed the Jormungandr snake. This small gesture will cost him a lot in the upcoming season. Now he’ll have to make a choice. Who does he want to side with? This will in turn, also decide the future of the show.
As there is no official plot synopsis yet, we can’t say anything more than this about the events of Ragnarok Season 3. So, we’ll have to wait till Netflix bestows us with some details about the storyline!
Trailer
The show is yet to be renewed for a third season. Hence there is no trailer for Ragnarok Season 3 either. But if Netflix decides to go on with the series, they will also reveal some sort of footage with the renewal news.
And who knows, maybe it is just around the corner!
