So, let’s take a deep breath and dive right into the content!

What is the official release date for Don’t Breathe 2?

The sequel got confirmed way back in 2015, even before the release of the first installment. But it was the pre-production phase that took too long to begin.

By 2018, the producers announced that they had completed the script of the sequel. This caused the fans to go feral, and they expected to get the film soon in 2019.

The film creators also had similar plans, but they had to abandon the production due to the outbreak of covid 19. Consequently, the release date of the film also got delayed till further notice.

But now, as things are getting better, Sony Pictures announced that Don’t Breathe 2 will premiere worldwide on 13th August 2021.

So, mark the most important date on your calendars!

The present status of the sequel

The filming for doesn’t Breathe 2 started in August of 2020, and it got wrapped up by September of the same year. According to some insiders, the post-production of the film has also completed its phase.

Now the film is all set for its release in theatres.

Will the original cast come back for the second installment of Don’t Breathe?

The lead actor, Stephen Lang, will reprise his role as the terrifying blind assassin of the first installment. The writers haven’t confirmed whether Jane Levy will be starring in the sequel or not.

Most probably, the mystery will get solved once the film goes on air in August.

We won’t be seeing Dylan Minnette (Alex), Franciska (Cindy), Daniel Zovatto (Money) as their characters couldn’t get out of the burning house in time. Assuming that they are dead, they might come back in flashback scenes.

Rocci Boy Williams, Christian Zagia, Bobby Schofield, Adam Young, and Diana Babnicova are some of the new faces that you’ll get to see in the sequel. There might be other additions too, which we’ll only get to know once the directors reveal themselves or there are some leaks.

What will the plot be?

Basically, the sequel will take place years after the events of the first film.

The blind man will once again be living in solitude, but he’ll adopt a girl who got orphaned by the house fire in some time. His intentions are pure, and he wants to protect the little girl. But he will also have to face the grave consequences of the sins that he committed in the past.

Later in the film, it will show that a group of men kidnap the girl, and the older adult goes out of his way to search for the girl and ensure that she stays unharmed.

Deducing from these theories, this is an interesting way to pivot and take the franchise forward. However, fans had a lot of questions to ask about the sequel.

The second installment will show that the blind man is not a villain anymore. Instead, he is an anti-hero. So this is a very cleverly planned redemption arc for Stephen Lang’s character. But these are just assumptions!

Things might not turn out the way fans are expecting them to. Maybe the blind man on purpose burnt down the house to take the little girl under his protection with some ulterior motives. And the group of men who kidnapped the girl is actually the good guys trying to keep her safe from the unhinged man.

But one thing is for sure, that the sequel’s story will continue the things from where they ended in the first installment.
