Michael Mann, an Emmy winner and respected filmmaker, then joined the production, directing the pilot episode and he served as executive producer for the series. J.T. Mann’s first directing attempt ever since release of his 2015 globe-trotting thriller “Blackhat” is “Tokyo Vice.” With films like “Heat,” “Collateral,” “Manhunter,” and “Thief,” the filmmaker is widely regarded as one of the masters of the modern crime genre. Mann was also an executive producer on HBO’s short-lived drama series “Luck” and directed “Miami Vice.”

On April 7, the first three episodes of “Tokyo Vice” will be available on HBO Max. Every Thursday after that, two new episodes will air, leading up to the season finale on April 28.
