Lara Dutta: another challenging role and completely unrecognizable in the upcoming movie Trailer: BellBottom
In the upcoming movie BellBottom Lara Dutta is playing the character of Former Indian Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. During the launch of the Trailer Dutta spoke about her character and challenges related to the transformation.
Tuesday was the day when the Trailer was launched and when media persons were covering the event and could not recognize Dutta. It is a spy thriller based on the time of 1980’s, and lead role played by actor Akshay Kumar.
It was a complete surprise even for the media persons to watch Lara Dutta. The trailer of the Film, which shows the scene of an Aeroplane hijack along with all the passers aboard, depicts the year 1984.
Next scene shows PM discussing the potential way out of this situation with her advisors. She is then told about the RAW operative. And then Akshay Kumar character is shown on the screen and the cover he has taken up in normal life.
The following scene elaborates the lead character; Akshay Kumar, who is playing the role of RAW agent and whose code name is “Bellbottom”. Remaining part of the trailer focuses on the mission and leaded by the Kumar.
Media people were curious about the character played by Lara Dutta and asked her about the character she is playing in the movie. She amicably replied “if anyone is able to guess, then I will take all their family members free to the theatres.”
Even after multiple hints drawn by Akshay Kumar, Dutta Said “so you did see me in the trailer. I’m playing Mrs. Indira Gandhi. That’s Me.”
She received a call from the team of the movie and told to play the role of former Indian PM Indira Gandhi, said former miss Universe.
“All it took was a call and they said that Lara this film is being made and we are casting for Indira Gandhi’s role. It was before I heard the script… But yes, of course, there is a great responsibility when you’re portraying somebody who is an iconic figure like her.” She added.
It is normally a tough task to practice somebody’s body language and personality, but it was a challenge for me, said Dutta. Mrs. Indira Gandhi was a powerful personality and far from all the dramatic events so it was my duty to do justice not only with my character but with a legend too.
I had to do a lot of research work for this role and even more on portraying the same in front of camera.
She further added that “it was a lifetime opportunity for her and she is thankful of that.”
This movie also shows key roles of Vaani Kapoor and Huma Qureshi.
Movie is directed by the Ranjit M Tewari and produced by Vashu Bhagnani, Jacky Bhagnani, Deepshikha Deshmukh, Monisha Advani, Madhu Bhojwani and Nikhil Advani.
We all get the opportunity to experience this spy thriller in cinemas on August 19.
