It seems like Kevin Smith is working very hard to make his old content available for the present generation. First his hit series ‘Masters of the Universe: Revelation” got a remake and now the cult classic Clerks’ movies are getting a threequel. And luckily he has been very generous with the details about the upcoming film. But after all, when will we get to see Clerks III? And is the original cast coming back for the threequel?
The View Askewniverse of Kevin Smith is one of the most developed and oldest fictional universes. And the creator, Smith has kept up with the great content all along. In fact, there are many upcoming projects which will further expand this universe. Back to Clerks III, the comedy movie will serve as a threequel to the 1994 and 2006 films, Clerks and Clerks II!
The film which was confirmed in 2019 started with its pre-production phase recently. So, what does that say about the release date of Clerks III? Will the movie come out in 2022 or will it take more time? All of these queries have been answered in detail. So, let’s begin!
The previous 2 films focus on 2 clerks who work at the video games store. Clerks III just started filming in August!
The first black and white film “Clerks” marked the beginning of Kevin’s career as a producer and a writer. From this movie onwards Kevin decided to work on his own fictional universe View Askewniverse. And the love that he has for his characters is immense, hence he usually goes with the same cast and characters. No wonder why so many of his projects have multiple installments.
One such close to his heart project is Clerks III for which he has worked really hard since the 2006 film “Clerks II” did not get good reviews. But the threequel is expected to do better than all of its predecessors. The Jay and Silent Bob superfans will have to wait for a long time to see their favorites in theatres. Why? Because the movie has just begun its pre-production phase and given the present covid situation we don’t know how long the project will take.
And if everything goes smoothly then Clerks III will be released in 2023. But there are no official details about the film’s release date!
Jeff Anderson is coming back as Randal in Clerks III!
If you are an avid watcher of Kevin’s projects you must be aware that all of his characters are interconnected in some way or another! To put it in simple words it’s just like MCU and DC instead there are no comics.
Great news for fans because Kevin succeeded in persuading almost all of the original cast to come back for the threequel. The stars of the previous films will again feature as the protagonists of Clerks III; Brian O’Halloran as Dante and Jeff Anderson as Randal.
What about other cast members of the movie?
Jay (Jason Mewes) and Silent Bob (Kevin Smith)’s duo will also be there in the upcoming threequel. However, they won’t be the main characters this time. Other than them the star stellar cast includes; Marilyn Ghigliotti as Veronica Loughran, Rosario Dawson as Becky Scott, and Trevor Fehrman as Elias Grover.
The film still has a lot of time till its release, this means that the aforementioned actors are just a few important ones. As the film will proceed with its production Kevin Smith will also keep the fans up to date about the cast of Clerks III! So, prepare yourself for more surprises.
Clerks III is set in New Jersey!
Kevin revealed where the film will take place but he remained tightlipped about the plot of Clerks III. All he disclosed was that the threequel will yet again revolve around the underpaid retail workers, Randal and Dante!
The story will be based on them but the plot will be something entirely different; not like the previous installments. This mystery will only get solved once we get the official plot synopsis for Clerks III. And for that, you’ll have to remain patient for quite a long time but given that Kevin Smith is looking over the film, we are sure that this prolonged wait will be worth it!

If you knew anything about how Kevin Works you would know that this film will be almost assuredly edited and ready foe distribution with six weeks of wrapping which would have the film ready by October. You’ll definitely see a 2022 release.
