The Last Of Us Season 2: Everything You Need To Know

The Last Of Us is one of the most successful shows of this year. It is an adaptation of a video game that shares the same title. After completing its first season, the series will return for another season, The Last Of Us Season 2.

If you have enjoyed the first season and are looking forward to the second season, you have hit the right place. Here’s everything that you need to know about The Last Of Us Season 2.

The Last Of Us Season 2 Release Date

Last month, Neil Druckmann, the creator of the series, confirmed that the work for the second season has begun. However, the filming of the same is yet to begin. Previously, Bella Ramsey revealed that filming for The Last Of Us Season 2 would start either at the end of this year or the beginning of the following year during an interview. Therefore, it is safe to assume that the second season will premiere either in late 2024 or early 2025.

The Last Of Us Season 2 Everything You Need To Know

HBO has not officially announced the release date of The Last Of Us Season 2. It is not a shock considering that HBO does not set any schedule for a returning show and gives the creators whatever time they need to craft a masterpiece.

Will All The Cast Return For The Last Of Us Season 2?

It is too early to comment on the returning cast for the upcoming season. However, we know that Pedro Pascal will return as Joel, and we will have Bella Ramsey again as Ellie.

According to sources, in the second season, we will see Ellie as a 19-year-old instead of the 14-year-old we saw in the first season. The co-creator has stated unless Bella Ramsey changes her mind, she will play the role of Ellie again. Craig Mazin, the showrunner, has stated they already know what to do with her character. They have already decided on her costume, makeup, hair, spirit and soul.

The second part of the game also features Tommy, Joel’s brother. Therefore, we expect to see Gabriel Luna again. However, there is also a new character! Abby Anderson is the new main character of the second season. However, the cast of Abby is yet to be decided. There is no information about any other cast rejoining the upcoming season.

What Will The Season Cover?

It is one of the biggest questions in the minds of the viewers! The viewers who have watched the first season know that the series has covered the first part of the video game, and it is for sure that we will not see any more of that story now. Therefore, there is a chance that The Last Of Us Season 2 will include a time jump and will proceed to cover part 2 of the video game.

In the game, the events take place after five years. It revolves again around the lives of Joel and Ellie as they deal with things after their journey. The creators kept the events of the second part in mind while crafting the second season.

Also, we noticed some differences between the series and video games, and we expect the same for The Last Of Us Season 2. Craig Mazin said that sometimes this difference would look radical, while there will hardly be any difference at other times.

Plot

If The Last Of Us Season 2 follows the event of the video game, we will see that Joel and Tommy encounter Abby during their routine patrol. The duo saves her from an infected horde. After the save, the group goes to a purpose building. However, it is no ordinary building, it is a hideout of the Washington Liberation Front. This group attacks both brothers.

Later, Ellie and Dina go in search of Tommy and Joel. When Ellie arrives, she witnesses Abby beating Joel to death. Later, Ellie, Tommy and Dina go to Seattle to search for Abby. However, the journey leads them to Seraphites, a religious cult fighting the WLF.

There are many twists and turns, but the point to note is that Joel dies!
