Apple TV+ has set the release date for Dark Matter season 2, the sci-fi thriller starring Joel Edgerton and Jennifer Connelly. The story centers on Jason Dessen, a physicist who lives a quiet life with his family. His world is suddenly turned upside down when he is taken into a different version of his life. Dark Matter Season 2 Release Date
The ten-episode season will premiere on Apple TV+ on Friday, August 28, 2026. New episodes will be added every Friday until October 30. The new season arrives more than two years after Dark Matter debuted on Apple TV+ in May 2024, and it also coincides with the 10th anniversary of the novel’s publication.

Dark Matter Season 2 Story
Dark Matter tells a story about the choices we don’t make in life. In Season 1, the series follows Jason Dessen, a physicist, professor and family man who is kidnapped while walking home in Chicago and taken into a different version of his life. What initially feels surprising soon becomes frightening as he tries to return to his real life while facing the many lives he could have lived.
Season two picks up with the Dessens trying to rebuild a quiet and peaceful life in a world that finally seems safe, but an unexpected event forces them to run again. As Jason becomes more obsessed with the Box, Daniela grows increasingly worried, pushing her toward a breaking point and putting their fragile stability at risk. Meanwhile, Amanda and Ryan team up in a desperate attempt to find their way back home. At the same time, Blair is determined to stop Jason, while Leighton continues chasing his dream of creating a perfect world.
