Rick And Morty Season 9 Premiere Date Revealed; First Look Promises “No AI Slop”

Rick and Morty follows the crazy adventures of a brilliant scientist, Rick Sanchez, and his nervous grandson, Morty Smith, as they travel and face bizarre situations in many strange places. The sci-fi comedy became popular for its dark humor and unique storytelling.

After entertaining fans since 2013, the show is back with its ninth season. Adult Swim shared a first official look through promo images and a poster, saying the show has no AI slop and is made by real humans.

Warner Bros. Discovery and Adult Swim announced that the long-running sci-fi comedy will premiere on Sunday, May 24, 2026, at 11:00 p.m. ET/PT.

Rick And Morty Season 9 will roll out globally in over 170 countries and 42 languages, with release timing varying by platform and region. New episodes will be available for purchase from the digital retailers a day after its premiere on Adult Swim. The U.S. streaming date is set for August 31, 2026.

According to the official description, Season 9 reads, “’Rick and Morty’ is back, baby! Season 9 is all certified bangers. No AI slop! Just Grade A organic slop, made by real humans with real human traits like back hair and cysts. Please watch, or we’ll have neglected our families for nothing.”

Adult Swim president Michael Ouweleen said in a statement, “I know it’s my job to say that this show just keeps topping itself, but it also has the benefit of being true.” He further added, “It’s kind of scary what this show unit is doing season over season—just pouring an absurd amount of talent and brilliance into these episodes. From the first frame, you’re going to see great high‑concept insanity with some of the best character writing ever done. Again, it’s my job to say that, but it’s also true.”

How Many Episodes Will Rick And Morty Season 9 Have?

Although Adult Swim’s announcement did not specify an episode count, recent reports indicate Season 9 will consist of 10 episodes.

Scott Marder leads the series as showrunner, while he and Dan Harmon also serve as executive producers. The series features voice performances from Ian Cardoni, Harry Belden, Sarah Chalke, Chris Parnell and Spencer Grammer.
