Sonic The Hedgehog 4, an action-packed comedy film has finally got a release date, but it is in 2027.
On Tuesday, the film production company, Paramount Pictures announced that the 4th film of the franchise will be released in the theatres on 19th March, 2027. Right now, Sonic the Hedgehog 4 is the only film that will be releasing on this date. The production company has also stated that they have been observing the particular release date for a very long time. Also, the announcement of Sonic the Hedgehog 4 was made even before the third film came out in theatres.
The news of the film’s release date, which is based on the popular Sega video game, has just come a few days after Sonic the Hedgehog 3 became the highest-earning film in the series, making over $420 million around the world and $218 million domestically. Moreover, the third installment has also become a huge hit due to the appearance of Keanu Reeves as Shadow the Hedgehog.
Also, it has been revealed by Paramount Pictures that the third installment of Sonic the Hedgehog stayed at the Number 1 spot for a total of two weeks in the United States. The film also topped the box office in more than thirty countries including Mexico, the United Kingdom, Italy, and many more. Not only this but from purchases and rentals, the third part of Sonic the Hedgehog has earned more than $180 million. The entire Sonic the Hedgehog film series is a huge hit as of now and has reached the mark of $1 billion in global ticket sales.
Currently, the fourth part of Sonic the Hedgehog is in its production stage. Apart from the release date of the film, no other information has been revealed with regard to who will be the director or who will be the writer of the film.
However, fans of the film franchise which began in February 2020, are speculating that Jeff Fowler, who directed the three films in this series, will also be directing the fourth installment. Sonic the Hedgehog 3 was written by John Whittington, Josh Miller, and Pat Casey.
About the cast, there is no official information as of now, but in the third movie, Jim Carrey appeared in a dual role as Dr. Robotnik and the grandfather of the crazy scientist. Also, Idris Elba voiced the character of Knuckles, Ben Schwartz voiced the main character of Sonic, Keanu Reeves voiced Shadow the Hedgehog, and Colleen O’Shaughnessey voiced the character of Miles Tails Prower. Other actors and actresses who were featured in the film are James Marsden, Shemar Moore, Krysten Ritter, Natasha Rothwell, Tom Butler, Adam Pally, Lee Majdoub, and Tika Sumpter.
